Seriously, There is Truth in Fantasy

It's not all fun and games...
My goal is to have fun writing fun books to read. There is more to it than that, however. Amid all the humor, action, and surprise you will find some serious themes. The importance of these themes has weighed heavily on me the last few months so I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about them. The first is prejudice and how people in power weaponize it and use it to further an agenda. These people in power don't have our best interests at heart.
Jade was the first book I ever wrote and it's an urban fantasy. For those not familiar with urban fantasy it is simply fantasy in a modern or futuristic setting. In Jade's world you will find both the familiar and the strange. The strange part is the existence of supernatural creatures like vampires, shifters, witches, and fae. Sometimes people fear the things that are different and in Jade some corrupt people in power play upon those fears and use that to their advantage. We see this in the real world with politicians using fear of immigrants or members of the LGBTQ communities to consolidate their power and leverage this fear into hate. Don't let them manipulate you!
When I wrote Jade I was very involved in supporting those that I felt were falsely accused or wrongfully convicted by a far less than perfect justice system. You will see this theme in Jade. Manipulation of evidence, false testimony, forced confessions, use of public opinion and propaganda to further an agenda of guilt are some of the things still happening with our justice system today. Do not be deceived!
The good themes in Jade are friendship, loyalty, and the power of a few determined people to overcome extremely low odds. I think you will enjoy the ride.

I read both traditional and self-published authors and if you have not read self-published books before this post is intended to help you out.

Lisa Emme..
I dare you to read this book and tell me it's not as good as the majority of traditionally published books out there. Pure fun with action, romance, mystery, and supernatural creatures.
